Home to the Ancestral Puebloan people, Mesa Verde is one of the treasures of preshitory.  Due to its importance to archaeology and the awe-inspiring site that it is, UNESCO declared it a world heritage site.  Contrary to popular belief, the Puebloan people didn't just disappear without a trace.  Modern archaeology has given us the many reasons that this large settlement was abandoned, and why its people dispersed.
