This high school was the site of one of th emore significant events of the Civil Rights Era.  In 1957, the Little Rock 9 were the first black students to enroll and attend the newly desegreted high school in Little Rock.  The unrest was so intense that Eisenhower had to order the Army to escort these unbelievably brave students to class amidst the hatred, racism, and ill will directed at them.  I hope we never forget them, and that we can only follow in their bravest of footsteps.
