At the very edge of Alaska lies Bering Land Bridge.  Archaeological evidence suggests that around 15,000 years ago the sea levels were low enough that land connected North America and Asia here.  This connection allowed a mass migration from Asia to the Americas during the Paleolithic era leading to the human population spreading across the American continents.
